Kale Junkie is Developing Healthy Recipes to Heal Her Relationship with Food

With two million followers under her belt, Nicole Keshishian Modic is one of Instagram’s most popular food bloggers, but getting there wasn’t easy. The mastermind behind the viral page Kale Junkie discovered the power of cooking while looking for a way to heal her relationship with food and she’s helping other people do the same.

Before becoming a food blogger and recipe developer, Modic worked as an employment defense lawyer, but her career didn’t bring her the fulfillment she was craving. She used food to cope with stress, binging, purging, and restricting food, until she found the strength to come clean about her eating disorder to her husband.

Her relationship with food significantly changed when she started developing her own healthy recipes and sharing them on her Instagram page Kale Junkie almost a decade ago.

“Through extensive therapy, yoga teacher training, and changing the way I ate to include ALL foods through an intuitive eating approach, I learned to love food and I healed. My recovery journey ignited my passion for creating recipes made with real, whole food ingredients,” she writes on her official website.

Modic is now on a mission to make healthy eating more accessible to others and prove there’s more to it than green salads and kale smoothies. She’s hoping her recipes will inspire other people to develop a healthier relationship with food and add more nutritious and delicious dishes to their daily menus.
