Cooking and gardening are two of Lauren May’s biggest passions, and she came up with a creative way to mix them into one. The Must Love Herbs founder is baking dreamy cakes that look straight out of a fairy tale, inspired by the under-appreciated beauty of Appalachia.
May’s roots in the Appalachian region run well over 200 years deep, and she came up with a creative and delicious way to celebrate her heritage. She’s developing recipes that are meant to show you the rural Appalachian life from the point of view of someone who has truly lived it.
May is very passionate about gardening, foraging, and cooking, and she came up with a way to mix these hobbies into one. She’s using the veggies she grew in her garden to cook the most delicious dishes, in addition to using flowers and herbs to give her picture-perfect dessert a dreamy vibe.
“Gardening and cooking are therapeutic outlets for me. They help me be in touch with my ancestors, but they also help me be more in tune with myself. Each time I bring in something from my garden, I feel compelled to create something beautiful. That is where cooking comes to play,” she told Upike Magazine.
