Dogs know that their barking often makes intruders go away. This is the case when a dog barks at the mailman. But this particular postman is special because the dogs under his route get excited every time he comes by.
Recently, Twitter user @amorningsting shared a heartwarming story about her mailman dad. Her father would always bring treats for the canine animals. He was loved by his furry friends and their owners too. However, one day during his usual route, he got a sad letter from one of his customers telling him that their dog had passed away. The former dog owner decided to honor their pet by thanking her dad and giving her remaining bag of treats.
In a text to his daughter, the mailman dad told her that it was his large buddy Gretchen, a German Shepherd, that had died, along with a picture of dog treats and a heartbreaking note.
“Gretchen passed away yesterday. She asked me to ask you if you would share her treats that she never got to finish with the other dogs on your route. She always enjoyed seeing you come to the door and was always happy to get a snack from you. Thank you, The Cimino Family,” the note read.
