Man Converts Old Skateboards into Cool Everyday Items

While most people toss away their old skateboards after they wear out, Justin LaRose decided to turn his into cool and useful everyday items.

 LaRose, who owns a CraftedbyJL shop, stacks damaged skateboard decks into blocks and then shapes them into colorful spoons, knifes bats, and even furniture. Unlike other artists, who use the same technique in order to create purely decorative items, this Long Beach-based skateboarder and carpenter focuses both on the aesthetics and the utility of his creations.

“To be able to take what was considered trash and meant for a landfill and transform it into new items is super motivating and crazy to me, and I’m psyched to be able to put this out there,” – LaRose says about his work.
