Meet Muppet, the Latest Winner of Britain’s Ugly Dog Competition

Britain’s “Ugly Dog Competition” celebrates the unique quirks and inner beauty of our four-legged companions, and it just crowned its latest winner. A Chinese crested dog Muppet is the latest pup to win the title of Britain’s ugliest dog, but his owner claims he’s “beautiful inside and out.”

The “Ugly Dog Competition” is organized by the photography company Parrot Print, and it’s all done in good fun. According to the company’s official statement, they’re on a mission to celebrate every dog – no matter what they look like – because there’s something beautiful about every pooch.

One of the previous winners Peggy became a bonafide superstar after winning this competition and appeared in Deadpool & Wolverine earlier this year. Muppet, the 12-year-old Chinese crested dog from Peterborough, is her latest successor after winning the competition this year, over a decade after his brother Mugly won the ugliest dog competition in 2012.

Muppet’s owner Bev Nicholson described him as a “wonky little rescue dog” with missing teeth whose “beautiful inside and out.” Even before winning this competition, he always enjoyed being the center of attention. People often stop Nicholson when she’s walking Muppet to ask her for a selfie with the pup, who became a true sensation thanks to his quirky hairstyle and a tongue sticking out of his mouth.
