Joongwon Jeong describes himself
as a hyperrealist painter and freelance illustrator who studied Design and
Visual Communication at Hongik University of Art and Design in Seoul. The South
Korean-based Jeong creates remarkable portraits that look like they are
photographs. The artist also made a series of images where he turned famous
busts into acrylic paintings.
His work has been exhibited in both national and international galleries. Eight years ago, he became an award-winning artist by receiving the Beaux-Art 2011 Art Award. Jeong also shares his work on his social media accounts, where you can see much more of his amazing talent.
On his personal website, the
artist quotes a phrase from Aristotle: “Aristotle once said: ‘A corpse is
repulsive, but the painting of a corpse can be beautiful.’ And I say, ‘Purulent
acne is repulsive, but the painting of a pimple can be beautiful.’”
