When Kelsey of Rope Drop Design decided to upcycle her very first second-hand bedsheet, she had no idea this was the start of an epic adventure. Her bedsheet clothes became a huge sensation on social media, and they’re a love letter to her favorite Disney characters.
Kelsey is a lifelong theme park fan, and she was looking for a special way to mark the occasion whenever she went to Disney World. She combined her passion for fashion and theme parks by coming up with elaborate DIY outfits, and something shifted when she decided to put an old bedsheet to some good use.
“I initially began designing ears to wear to the parks, but after I created a pair out of a thrifted bedsheet, I fell in love with the upcycling process. I decided to make a matching dress with the leftover fabric, and that began a new chapter for my lil shop,” she wrote on her official website.
Rope Drop Design was born, and she’s been transforming second-hand bedsheets into dresses, skirts, shirts, and jackets ever since. She’s constantly on the hunt for new bedsheets featuring her favorite characters from Disney’s animated classics, and she’s transforming them into unique, made-to-order, size-inclusive outfits from her home in Los Angeles.
