Scott Young Blends Together Fashion, Art, and Astrology

Scott Young’s love of fashion fed his artistic passion and vice versa. The NYC-based visual artist first got into painting through making flyers, T-shirts, and record covers for punk and hardcore bands. “At a certain point, the visual art sort of overtook my involvement in music,” he shared with the Urban Outfitters blog. “Before all of that, I studied art theory in college.”

Now, he explores his artistic side through many different projects. “My style is kind of always evolving,” he explained. “I’m always sort of rebelling against what I’ve done before. I don’t want to make the same thing over and over again.”

In one of his latest projects, he printed T-shirts with his own visual interpretation of astrological symbolism, which you can purchase on his website. “The most important thing to me when creating a piece of work is that it ‘expresses life’ in an honest way that feels relevant for me,” he stressed. “I try and keep it pretty open in terms of what I want people to take away from it. Looking art is such a subjective thing that I wouldn’t want to impose on someone’s experience.”
