Natalie Shilo is a Warsaw, Poland-based artist who creates illustrations that will captivate you with their unusual style and charm you with their positivity.

Full of vibrant colors and unusual elements, these illustrations capture the moments of enjoyment in everyday life. The subjects seem careless, enthusiastic, or just unbothered by anything else besides wanting to embrace the moment. They dance, pick flowers, play musical instruments, and invite the viewer to be a part of their activities.

Shilo creates her artworks using digital tools but still manages to make them unique. This is in part thanks to her commitment to making every element fit together perfectly.

“I am constantly searching for the perfect combination of shapes, colors, and textures,” Shilo said in a recent chat with Colossal.

Shilo is a versatile artist whose creativity goes beyond illustrations. Aside from having experience in artistic photography, she is also involved in the fashion industry, creating graphics for one Polish clothing brand. She is also interested in animation and weaving while planning to get involved in mural design and ceramics.

Shilo shares her newest illustration works on Instagram while also offering prints through her Etsy shop. You can check out more of them below.

Digital artist Andrés Reisinger recently presented an intriguing series of digital artworks titled “Take Over”. In the series, Reisinger “dresses” buildings of major cities in pink drapes and pink fuzzy covers.

For “Take Over” artworks, Reisinger takes viewers to the streets of Tokyo, London, Paris, and New York, among other cities. He invites them to experience the cities in a way they haven’t experienced before, but that still seems familiar and inviting.

The way Reisinger dresses the architecture of the cities that serve as subjects of his works mimics their reputation. For example, Paris has simple and sleek pink sheets that follow the outlines of its buildings. London has elegant drapes, while New York City is donning oversized fuzzy coverings.

In a recent interview, Reisinger explained that he believes digital art is “an expansion of our physical experiences.” This is an approach that he takes when creating his own art.

“At first glance, [my works] are pleasing to the eye, but on a second, more attentive look, they feature elements of oddity,” he shared with Wallpaper. “It is important for every component of the work to be noticed, and for it to happen in a world overwhelmed with visual stimuli, it needs a discrete element of oddity.”

Santi Zoraidez describes himself as a passionate art director and designer with a true desire to transform ideas into striking artworks. Combining realism with surrealism, he creates imagined spaces rich with color and light. Zoraidez’s ability to merge brilliant illustrations with groundbreaking digital effects often puts him at the very forefront, attracting brands as big as Apple, Nike and Ikea to name a few.

“I’m passionate about furniture, interior design, art installations, architecture and of course about graphic design,” he shared with Grafik. “I always try to mix these different influences within my own work. There is something interesting to me about the compositions I can create and the way that shapes interact with each other, together with a sense of space or volume, and referring mostly to real materials.”

Born in Buenos Aires and having spent many years living and working in Copenhagen and Berlin, Zoraidez has recently returned to his native country, where he continues his practice. Each project requires much planning beforehand, fleshing out his ideas first before committing them to paper.

“I really try to develop my ideas for each piece of work outside of the screen, and then after some time I build up something to try out in digital,” explains Zoraidez. “That is when my visual development process really starts. One thing leads to another. When I’m working on the first round of designs, I enjoy making the most of the freedom to create whatever comes to my mind, and whatever I find interesting for that project. From that starting point, you can choose the right way to move forward.”

His work requires translating complicated concepts into simple compositions. “I like to see how shapes and objects interact with each other, and how I can use the way that they look to communicate an idea,” he notes. “Whether in motion or as still image, this is the way I approach a project.”

Chinese artist Decue Wu moved to the US and earned her degree in 2014. She’s an illustrator, listed in Forbes 30 under 30 Art & Style, class of 2020.

Being a collector of “all things fashionable,” her style focuses on the combination of lifestyle and fashion.

“My multi-city lifestyle and cultural exchange experience provide me with rich creative inspiration,” the artist said in an interview for Ballpit. “My cat Sashimi is also my inspirational muse, who works as my drawing assistant. When I am not drawing, I experiment with new recipes and scour the world in search of the best food ever.”

She says that her favorite mediums are both gouache painting and digital painting.  and although she hasn’t done traditional drawing for quite some time, it still makes her fun when she does it.

“My illustration style takes a lot of inspiration from the mid-century era: abstract and geometric shapes, limited palettes, and the offset texture of screen-printing. I’m also inspired by Cubism and Fauvism, such as Picasso’s and Matisse’s work,” she added.

Cat Finnie’s digital illustrations are bright, colorful, and all-around wonderful. Known for her decorative conceptual style, her work often brings in an element of the surreal, creating images that have a dreamlike quality to them – a sense of ambiguity and the mysterious enhanced by her careful choice of color and composition.

Having graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a BA in Graphic Design, Finnie is currently based in London, where she works as a freelance illustrator, working mainly in advertising and packaging, but also dabbling in editorial illustration and animation design.

“I think that, for me, being an illustrator is as much about creating content that’s useful or informative or connects with other people as it is about making something that’s meaningful to me,” she told Sense of Creativity, stressing that both aspects are important for her. “I always try to find a way to personally connect with a piece I’m working on, so that I can put some unique perspective into it, even if it’s not obvious to others in the final illustration.”

Amongst her influences, she counts René Magritte, Leonora Carrington, Remedios Varo, Jorge Luis Borges, Hilma Af Klint, Tove Jansson, Angela Carter, Haruki Murakami, Gabriel García Márquez, and Ursula Le Guin. “I’m very drawn to Surrealism in particular, both in art and in literature, and I think that has a strong influence in my work,” she relays. “Where it’s appropriate – e.g, illustrating more conceptual pieces – I always try to dig down into the unconscious aspect of the subject I’m illustrating and get a feeling for what is under the surface, the undercurrent of an article.”

When you look at a Jati Putra piece, you might think at first that it’s just regular digital art – it might be a young woman strolling in the forest, folks having fun at the beach or the winding roads of the North American wilderness. But at a second glance, you’ll realize that there’s something not quite right with the picture.

Putra’s pieces look like a Salvador Dali fever-dream. The artist takes conventional landscapes and scenes and warps them with his digital tools. Surrealism has been popular for over a century, starting with the likes of Dali and Picasso, but Putra takes it a step further with his state-of-the-art modern digital tools and incredible skill. Each picture seems completely realistic, only some aspect of it is warped – the beach bends and shoots for the sky, the road folds on itself, or the river is neon green.

The pictures are so awe-inspiring that it can take a while to take it all in and sort out your emotions. They can be terrifying – in some, a boat is stirring towards a clean-cut, 90 degrees pitfall, or a person is walking with hid head down straight into a brick wall that used to be the road beneath his feet. But the can also be pure joy, turning the entire world into a funhouse.
