New York-based artist and designer Sebastian Errazuriz has received international acclaim for his unique and innovative works on different areas and disciplines. Engaging in everything from large-scale art installations to political artworks and experimental furniture to product design, his work is always provocative, inviting viewers to look closer at realities that were often hidden in front of their own eyes.
“We tend to understand reality by constraining meaning into closed and simplified boxes defined by previous cultural conventions,” he said in a press release for his current solo exhibition Breaking the Box at R & Company in New York City.
“We live within these pre-established cognitive borders, where we only tend to see, recognize, and accept as true that which has been previously ordered and defined,” he added.
His work has been exhibited alongside the most famous architects and designers and has been featured in several magazine covers and mainstream TV in BBC, CNN, NY1, and ABC.
“It’s important to me that a project consist of just a little twist,” the young artist said, “because I ultimately want people to see the obvious, the everyday differently.”
