These Paper Art Pieces are Made Using Traditional and Untraditional Methods

Julia Ibbini’s work combines digital design with traditional craftsmanship. The result? Incredibly intricate art pieces.

Her digital artworks are created using custom developed computer software and laser machines, resulting in extremely detailed laser cut artworks on layered paper. She hand-paints each of her creation with ink in vibrant colors. Most of her designs are inspired by Arabic geometry, embroidery, meenakari enamel work, and even electronic music.

“Each work begins with a single line and a circle which then are built into digital units to make up larger drawings using a combination of software tools,” she writes on her website. “Once the drawings are complete they are cut in numerous layers out of paper and mylar using a customized laser machine.”

“The final development is carried out entirely by hand with each part glued individually and combined with ink poured over mylar to create intensity of colour,” Ibbini added.
