Bags are one of the most popular fashion accessories that can help you make a statement with your outfit—especially if they’re made by Wicker Darling. This brand made quite a commotion with its quirky wicker bags, which often take the shape of different animals, from flamingos to hippos.
Wicker Darling is the brainchild of the Melbourne-based designer Jasmine Norrie, who decided to start her own brand after she struggled to find a wicker handbag she liked. She now runs the operations from Australia, while the bags themselves are made by two family businesses in the Philippines, helping mostly female weavers supplement their family income while working from home.
Norrie wants her bags to bring an unexpected spark of joy to everyone who wears them, and judging by her Instagram page – she’s definitely succeeding.
“We make statement bags for the dopamine-dressers, the theme-lovers, the vintage fanatics, and anyone else who gets a kick out of carrying an absurdly delightful figural wicker bag. From that first fabulous flamingo to an entire menagerie of woven wonders—guaranteed to spark delight and start conversations wherever they go,” reads the brand’s official website.
Wicker Darling’s bags take many different shapes and forms, but animals are Norrie’s biggest source of inspiration. Her signature flamingo bag put this brand on the map, and their designs now take the shape of hippos, elephants, giraffes, and many other adorable animals.
