Instagram likes are becoming a thing of the past, and if they end up being removed for good, 2019 will be the last year in which we track the most-liked posts on the platform. Here’s a couple of photos that made a splash this year, and received millions of likes in a matter of hours.
Instagram Egg
Advertising creative Chris Godfrey came up with the idea to set a record for the most-liked Instagram post with a simple picture of an egg, and 54 million people were on board.
Good Cause
Sustainable brand Tentree promised they’re going to plant one tree for every ten likes on this post, and kept their promise by planting 500,000 trees in Indonesia.
Friends Reunion
Jennifer Aniston took everyone by surprise when she finally decided to join Instagram, and her selfie with the cast of Friends received over 15 million likes.
Big Wedding
Many of our favorite stars tied the knot this year, but The Rock broke the internet after posting a photo with his wife Lauren Hashian, which received 14.7 million likes.

Kylie Jenner delivered one of the most viral moments of 2019 with “Rise and Shine”, but her photos with Travis Scott and Stormi also received an impressive amount of likes.
