Anna Mason spent seven long years without painting, but once she picked up a brush again she couldn’t stop. Inspiration started pouring in for every corner, and we’ve seen her tackle many different subjects through her body of work, but her food paintings are truly next-level.
Mason used to spend hours every day painting in her room as a child, but she put this hobby aside into adulthood. She was so absorbed by the idea that she should pursue a secure job, so she studied history at the university and found herself working in local government management in her 20s.
Her creative side was completely sidelined during this time and she didn’t create any art for seven long years. Every time she picked up a brush, it seemed too difficult to start painting because she lacked inspiration, but something clicked when she stumbled upon the botanical paintings of another artist, who was painting every day.
“From that moment, I promised not to shelve my creativity. I promised to bring it center stage in my life and see where I could go with it. I bought some professional-grade paints and paper and went for it. Working at my dining table. It felt amazing. The energy that decision gave me was incredible,” she wrote on her official website.
Mason doesn’t seem to lack inspiration nowadays, and food is one of her favorite subjects. Many of her watercolor paintings see her capturing juicy fruits, veggies, and other delicious treats in perfect detail.
