Stephanie, the artist behind Ami, which is short for ‘amigurumi’, the Japanese art of knitted or crocheted stuffed animals, began her crocheting journey when she was only 10 years old, and rediscovered her passion as an adult. She launched her blog in 2011 and began what is now a tradition in which every year she and her husband design the zodiac animal for that year and share the pattern with everyone.
“These ‘amigurumi’ designs have
inspired people to learn how to crochet as it is so empowering and rewarding
being able to make something so cute with your own two hands from scratch,” the
artist shared on Bored Panda. “Even
though everyone follows the same pattern, each ‘amigurumi’ turns out
differently with so much character as everyone has their own style and can add
their own details.”
Stephanie shares patterns and images of finished products on her personal blog, Instagram and Etsy store. If you want to start your own crocheting journey, check her out, and follow her for future updates.
