Badass Grandma Covers Disturbed’s “Down with the Sickness”

You wouldn’t think that grandmas listen to metal, let alone play drums. Well, Dorothea Taylor is here to prove you wrong.

Drumeo recently posted a video that shows Taylor, who is a drum instructor, facing biases when she goes shopping for music equipment or auditions. Most people she interacts with immediately assume she is interested in “feminine” instruments like piano or violin.

Midway through the video, which quickly went viral, Taylor manages to get behind the drums, and then the fun begins. She delivers a badass cover of Disturbed’s “Down with the Sickness,” showing that you’re never too old to rock and roll.

“I’ve been drumming my whole life, and every one of these experiences has happened to me throughout my life,” Taylor says towards the end of the clip. “Drummers come in all ages, sizes, shapes, ethnicities. And regardless of how good you are, how old you are, we’re all still part of the drumming family.”
