]]>Anna Chojnicka is a talented artist who uses bananas’ bruising ability to create elaborate artwork. This includes detailed depictions of celebrities, a recreation of classical paintings, and more.
According to Chojnicka, her creative process starts by lightly pressing the banana peel with a blunt object to create a sketch of the image. She then works the lines in a timely fashion in order to control the bruising and get the shading right.
“By managing the timing, it’s possible to make intricate images with graduating shades,” Chojnicka explains on her website. “There’s a short window of time when the image looks its best; I photograph the banana and then eat it.”
Chojnicka started her banana bruising practice during the pandemic. She posted a few banana artworks on social media, and the reactions were overwhelmingly positive. This prompted her to create a new piece of art every day and share it with her Instagram followers. Check out more of them below.

]]>Recently, Guichon presented a new mouthwatering creation that once again took social media by storm. He created giant chocolate matches with an accompanying matchbox that is, you’ve guessed it, also made out of chocolate.
In a viral clip shared on TikTok, which received close to 7 million views in less than a week, Guichon is seen creating matchsticks out of caramelized white chocolate before smoking them with oak wood. Then, the pastry chef makes matchstick heads out of “two crunchy vanilla sable cups, a milk chocolate caramel ganache, and a milk chocolate spread” before coating them with caramelized vanilla marshmallow and a thin layer of red-colored chocolate.
Next, he proceeds to build an incredibly realistic matchbox out of chocolate that is 100% edible. When everything is put together, it looks simply fantastic.
Other TikTok users were as amazed with Guichon’s creation as we were and made sure to praise the pastry chef in the comments section.
“I don’t think there’s anything you CAN’T make with chocolate,” one user wrote.
“Idk what level he’s on, but he’s by himself up there,” another added.

]]>Wodnicki, who works out of her home bakery in Southington, Connecticut, first tested her skills at making complex cakes when she needed one for her wedding. She successfully baked a four-tier dessert and realized that is something she had a knack for.
That was eight years ago, and since then, Wodnicki has honed her skills to an admirable level and managed to develop her own style. Her decorations are based on fiber art and crochet motifs and involve intricate and highly elaborated patterns. She also uses warm color palettes and buttercream to set herself apart from other bakers.
Thanks to her unique cakes, Wodnicki served as an inspiration to many home bakers who wanted to mimic her style. She viewed this as a compliment and even decided to share some of her knowledge, tips, and tricks with others through online classes.
“My passion is two-fold: baking a delicious cake from scratch and using it as a canvas to create a one-of-a-kind buttercream design,” Wodnicki says on her website.

]]>Back in the early 2000s, he started painting things he liked the most: San Francisco urbanscapes, paintings of old newspaper cartoon characters, Mexican masks, and Japanese tin (toy) robots. Later, he decided to focus on the tin robots, as they were the most popular. But he soon realized that there was something missing.
“By 2002, the paintings were looking good, but they still needed something to play off of… perhaps a nemesis. After a month or so of searching for a ‘nemesis’, I had an epiphany while watching the movie Pleasantville. In one of the scenes, Jeff Daniels paints a still life of…donuts,” the artist wrote on his personal website. And so, in addition to painting robots, he added donuts into his paintings and the result is quirky and fun.
Joyner’s work is well-known in the art world and some of his paintings were used in the TV show The Big Bang Theory.

]]>Hockersmith fell in love with baking over a decade ago, and her approach changed when she decided to go gluten-free. This switch made her look at pie-making in a whole new light, and she eventually decided to put a vibrant twist on her pies by adding some food coloring to the mix.
Baking wasn’t Hockersmith’s only hobby, and she enjoyed books just as much. She even ran an Instagram account where she could talk about the books that she was reading, and her life upside down when she decided to mix these two passions into one.
Hockersmith found viral fame under the moniker Pie Lady Books, and she’s best known for baking pies inspired by favorite book covers. Her pies can take up to three hours to make, depending on the colors and details involved.
When it comes to the selection process, Hockersmith lets the covers speak to her. She’s drawn to some of them so much that she can’t resist making pies before even reading the books, and the final result is always truly sweet!

]]>With over 550,000 followers and counting, Yee is one of the leading vegan bloggers on this social media platform and her recipes are a gift that keeps on giving. She also posts some of them on her food blog and YouTube channel, but most of them are easy enough to follow even if you focus on the instructions from Instagram captions alone.
Yee’s main goal is to encourage more people to adapt to a plant-based lifestyle through her vegan recipes. That’s why she keeps them simple and easy, but that’s not stopping them from looking so good that you’d feel bad about eating them.
Her desserts simply wouldn’t be the same if it wasn’t for their vibrant shades and they come in all the colors of the rainbow. They often owe their vivid shades to plant-based organic powders by Suncore Foods, such as matcha, blue spirulina, and butterfly pea powders.

]]>The post One NYC Diner is Still Serving Coca-Cola the Old-Fashion Way appeared first on PlayJunkie.
]]>Popular TikToker New York Nico recently posted a viral video in which he shows how New York City diner Lexington Candy Shop serves their Coca-Cola. The place, which has been open for 97 years, still mixes Coca-Cola syrup and carbonated water on the spot and then tops it with Vanilla ice cream.
This old-fashion way of serving Coca-Cola, which has been a norm in the past, has intrigued social media users. On TikTok alone, the video has 44 million views and close to five million likes.
Some users wondered how this Coca-Cola compares to the bottled version, and the truth is that it should be fairly similar. Coca-Cola uses the same principle of mixing the syrup with carbonated water in their factories minus the vanilla ice cream.
After the Lexington Candy Shop video about Coca-Cola blew up on the internet, New York Nico decided to return to the diner and check out more of their old-fashioned offering. This time the staff demonstrated how they make their famous egg cream. And the process is similarly fascinating.

]]>But if you ask Roman, she’s just a person writing recipes that people like. “I’m not trying to corner a market,” she relayed in an interview with the New Consumer. “I’m not trying to appeal to millennials, which by the way, could be a 40-year-old at this point.”
“There’s other people in my industry that would never get that label that,” she reflected, “quite frankly, have never achieved the level of popularity, and I’m wondering why. It’s just interesting to me.” Her rise to popularity is in part thanks to her viral recipes (look up #TheStew and #TheCookies), and in part due to her unapologetic approach to cooking (look up that beef with Chrissy Teigen).
She also has a newsletter you’d actually want to sign up for, with recent recipes including sticky apple cake and chicken salad. But according to Roman, her success came about fairly intuitively, with no real business model to follow. “I have no strategy,” she admitted. “That’s something you should know about me. I’m like an animal. [Laughs.] I operate on instinct — yes or no. I say no a lot. And I say yes to not as much, especially these days.”

]]>But with so much going on, both outside and inside our kitchens, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. A good place to start is with the Minimalist Baker. An online platform run by recipe developer, food stylist, and cookbook author Dana Shultz, the Minimalist Baker is all about simple recipes that make you feel good.
“The first and most important approach to food is simplicity,” Shultz explained once in an interview with Bakepedia. “That’s important to me because that’s the way I cook, and the way I search for recipes online and in cookbooks to actually make.”
“I always recommend reading the whole recipe start to finish and observing the required prep and cook time before starting,” she adds, “so they have an idea of what they’re getting into and aren’t surprised along the way.”
Another tip from Shultz: “I also don’t recommend making too many substitutions or alterations to the recipes as vegan and gluten-free baking especially can be tricky when you make too many swaps.”
Indeed, a lot of her recipes include healthy options and are diet friendly, so that you can eat at ease. And with a motto like “10 ingredients, 1 bowl, or 30 minutes or less”, she’s already got us hooked.

“Instagram stories have been huge for us,” admitted Ostrom in an interview with the Mediakix blog. “It’s amazing to me that we can just be in our house in our pajamas and doing some random video posts that will be viewed by more than 50,000 people. If I were to go in front of 50,000 people in real life, it would feel so intimidating. But I can talk to that many people from my pajamas, on my couch, without showering, and not feel nervous about it at all.”
Her down-to-earth approach to blogging seems to have struck a chord with others. But it’s Ostrom’s unapologetic enthusiasm about cooking that makes her truly stand out. According to Ostrom, she hopes she can inspire others just as well.
“I want you to be so excited about these recipes that you eagerly await 5 pm when you can go home from work and start cooking,” she remarked.
