The post Watch a Pinecone Growing into a Pine Tree in Under 2 Minutes appeared first on PlayJunkie.
]]>Back in 2022, around Christmas time, the creator behind Boxlapse bought a pinecone from the supermarket. They took the seed out of it and planted it into a pot. Since then, the pot has been recorded with a camera in order to capture the seed’s transformation into a pine tree.
After providing an update after 300 days, Boxlapse shared a new video in November. This one condenses 653 days of pine tree growing to just under two minutes.
You’ll witness the seed being harvested from the pinecone and planted, emerging from the dirt as a small blade of grass and then growing into a small tree covered with needles.
“653 days is not quite 2 years, but it sounds better. The tree is doing well but i think it’s time soon to switch to a bigger pot,” Boxlapse wrote in the caption of the video while promising another update on the tree in November 2025.

]]>In a viral video shared on TikTok, user @plantitpholiage showcased her dad’s habit of rating and keeping track of all the movies he watched.
Apparently, @plantitpholiage’s dad enters every movie he watches in alphabetical order on an Excel sheet. Each entry contains a Rotten Tomatoes rating, dad’s rating, and “key notes” about the movie, like who starred in it. On top of that, the dad prints out an updated version of his list as a book.
“im not gunna lie this was so impressively organized,” @plantitpholiage wrote in the caption.
The clip quickly spread on social media, receiving 6.6 million views to date. It also prompted thousands of comments by impressed TikTok users.

]]>Dinda recently shared a video on his YouTube channel PiXimperfect in which he demonstrated how to use the endless possibilities of AI in your favor. His example included having AI generate a photo of him posing with a girlfriend. After that, he would use the photo to convince his relatives that he has a girlfriend, and they would hopefully leave him alone.
As it turned out, his experiment was more than successful. People could barely tell the difference, and his family and friends were expecting a wedding announcement soon.
“One friend was even on the verge of booking a flight to attend my wedding,” he shared in a chat with My Modern Met.
Dinda’s video doesn’t only have an entertaining back story, but it also covers how you can use AI to manipulate photos by adding or removing people from them. And it’s safe to say the final results are quite impressive.

]]>The video, posted by @tongbingxue, showing the device in action has recently become viral on social media and caused quite a buzz. According to the poster, “the mouth-shaped module, served as an inducing area for lovers to make the kiss and then it can transfer kiss gesture to the “mouth” on the other side.”
The device connects with a smartphone and reads various data, including temperature, pressure, and lip movements. All of this can be replicated on the lips connected to a paired device, allowing the partner to experience the kiss as realistically as possible.
The idea of a remote kissing device is nothing new. Back in 2016, a device named Kissenger, developed by Imagineering Lab at City University London worked on a similar principle to the new one. Pressure sensors and actuators in Kissenger would collect the elements of the kiss on a sender device and then replicate it on the device of a recipient. However, the gadget never managed to gain major popularity.
The Twitter users also pointed to an episode of the American sitcom The Big Bang Theory, in which one of the characters, Howard Wolowitz, crafted a device with similar characteristics.

]]>McCarty, who goes by @bug_boys on TikTok, recently paid a visit to his local Walmart and met an 82-year-old cashier named Warren “Butch” Marion. Watching the man put in hard work at such an advanced age, the TikToker figured he should do something to help him spend his golden years in a better way.
Remembering how other social media users used their platform to launch successful GoFundMe campaigns for elderly workers, McCarty decided to do the same. He posted a video on TikTok in which he shared Marion’s story and invited others to join the cause.
“I wanted to help this Navy Veteran to live the remainder of his years traveling to see his kids in Florida,” wrote McCarty in the campaign. “Get him off his feet for 8 hrs at a time. And do the things he would love to do that he may not be able to for financial reasons.”
Prompted by the touching story, the internet users rushed to respond to McCarty’s plea. The campaign reached $100,000 in a matter of days, allowing Marion to finally put his Walmart uniform on the hanger for good.
On January 4th, McCarty officially presented Marion with a check for $108,682 that the campaign had collected to that point. He later shared the heartwarming moment in an Instagram photo that shows the elderly man with a huge smile on his face.
McCarty and Marion, who became friends in the meantime, are currently making tours to share their remarkable story. They hope to inspire others to similar acts of kindness and show that it doesn’t need much to change someone’s life for the better.

The following day, Danielle thought they could rearrange them to make a different scene. After that, everyone in the house started pitching new ideas.
It wasn’t long before the neighbors and passersby noticed this and were quite entertained by the family’s ideas, which ranged from some wacky situations like a football match between skeletons and ghosts to recreations of popular movie scenes.
“People said it was the highlight of their day,” Danielle said in a chat with TODAY.
“We’re silly people who like to have fun,” Steven added. “We’re a house full of goofballs.”

“Unlike ordinary aliens, Alien King has more tentacles. He has a lot of gully and scales on his body. It is necessary to cut the tires into very thin strips to simulate the texture of his skin, which is very difficult to make. ]]>Since 2004, visual artist Luke Jerram has been creating glass sculptures representing various viruses and bacteria as part of his ongoing Glass Microbiology project. Jerram’s works often correspond with current events, and so far, he has reproduced a number of viruses, including HIV, ZIKA, and most recently, COVID-19.
“Made to contemplate the global impact of each disease, the artworks are created as alternative representations of viruses to the artificially colored imagery received through the media,” Jerram shares on his website.
Jerram received significant recognition for his Glass Microbiology sculptures over the years. His works have not only proved to be a helpful tool for the scientific community but are also appreciated for their artistic value. Most of his creations are now in museums across the world or part of private art collections.

]]>Gandy’s most recent invention is a drawing machine that creates mesmerizing artworks. It draws complex patterns and shapes that look like they are a result of an elaborate algorithm. However, that’s not the case as the electric motor-powered machine is entirely analog.
While the machine is the one pressing pen on paper, Gandy actually determines what the artwork will look like. By making adjustments to the mechanical parts, he is able to set the speed of the machine and the outcome of the patterns. But Gandy’s contributions don’t end there.
When the machine is drawing multi-color pieces, each color must be applied separately. This means Gandy has to step in, pause the process, switch the colors, and then set the machine back in motion.
Gandy spent the majority of his adult life working in the custom furniture business and only became interested in metal and mechanics several years ago. After that, he started challenging himself with various demanding projects and has since crafted several drawing machines that create different types of art.

]]>Glass can transform a dark and gloomy interior into a space full of light, adding novelty to a room by virtue of its simplicity and elegance. With all of that being said, the following glass-made objects will upgrade any home!
Stained glass designer Elena Zaycman has caught our attention thanks to her luminous sculptures of butterflies, moths, and bees created using the Tiffany technique, a glass assembly technique using opalescent glass.
Each piece is made with exact precision, beginning with a detailed sketch: “I like them to be accurate, and I don’t eyeball anything, because it affects every other stage of production,” says Zaycman.
You might mistake Halle Mardahl’s glass objects for translucent candy. Exploring the contrast between organic shapes and hard materials, her designs aim to bring life to spaces, and are equally capable of standing alone or blending in. Amongst her hand-blown pieces you can find vases, bowls, and lamps. Personally, we find her glass-lidded jars irresistible.
These glass-made fruit pieces remind us of the plastic replicas our grandmother showcased in her kitchen. Nostalgic to a tee, Devyn Ormsby’s unique collection features lemons, pears, mandarins, and bananas made from glass in a single block of color.
“Fruit holds a large significance in art history, which is where I think the appeal comes from,” says Ormsby, whose work nods to the blown glass fruit makers and collectors from the 1960s.
