College professor Matthew Pittman from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, recently became a social media star because of his unusual method of waking up students who were asleep during his lectures. When he sees a student catching some snooze, Pittman walks up to them and wakes them up by loudly singing emo music.
Pittman shared his unique method in a recent video posted on TikTok. The clip, which has received more than 57 million views so far, shows Pittman breaking out emo-era hits like Secondhand Serenade’s “Fall for You,” Green Day’s “Basket Case,” and Blink-182’s “I Miss You” to unassuming students while accompanying it with a proper stage appearance.
The students who woke up had a hard time realizing what was happening, while the rest of the class visibly enjoyed their professor’s antics.
TikTok users absolutely loved Pittman’s methods while sharing their thoughts in the comments section.
“Idk what’s better him pulling megaphone out of seemingly no where or the other kid reaching over to plug his nose to make the blink 182 song more authentic sounding,” one TikTok user wrote.
“This is the type of professor you randomly pick because you need the class and end up picking whenever you can for other classes,” another added.
