If you still haven’t discovered the enchanting world of woodburning, buckle up because you’re in for a treat. Court O’Reilly is one of the insanely talented pyrography artists putting woodburning on the map, and her creations are a love letter to the natural world.
O’Reilly’s woodburning journey started about a decade ago when she worked on her first project in 2016. Something immediately clicked, and O’Reilly knew she had found a calling that would shape her life for the years to come.
“Wood, tool, and a coffee. I sat down and started burning. Six hours passed and I finally turned off my tool. It is not hard to say I was instantly hooked. Seeing my finished art piece for the first time made me smile, but reflecting on the past six hours made me smile even bigger,” she wrote on her official website.
O’Reilly’s brand Hippie North was born, and she worked on over 400 pyrography art pieces as the years went by. She uses sustainably sourced kiln-dried wood slabs and transforms them into art, often capturing her creative process in her viral videos on Instagram. Most of her creations are a love letter to the animal world, but she’s also inspired by architecture, landscapes, and music, and occasionally works on people portraits.
