Japanese Felting Artist Creates Incredibly-Realistic Felted Cat Portraits

Japanese felting artist Sachi is taking the art of creating felted cats to a whole new level. Her felted cat portraits are incredibly realistic and feature the cutest felines that will melt your heart.

Sachi, who originally worked as an advertising illustrator, discovered needle felting during a visit to a handicraft shop in 2015. Living with “deeply-beloved” three ex-stray cats, the artist decided to turn to felines as subjects of her early felting projects.

Initially, Sachi made full-body felted cats but soon discovered that creating cat faces brought her the most joy. Eventually, she started creating cat busts, and the idea of felted cat portraits was born.

After her works captured the attention of social media users, Sachi started receiving commissions from people who wanted her to make busts of their cats. This prompted her to create a felting studio, “Wakuneco,” which translates to “Frame Cats.”

“My needle felted cats may be just ornament. However, I believe making that one especially for someone and his/her beloved cat can make it more than an ornament and even a priceless and irreplaceable treasure. Making needle felted portraits of deeply-beloved cats, this is a grest pleasure and happiness for me, “Sachi shares on her website.
