Sustainable fashion experienced a true boom in recent years, and Cydsline is one of the brands driving this eco-friendly trend. Its founder Cyd saved thousands of pairs of old jeans from landfills by transforming them into chic bags and giving them a second chance at life.
Cyd launched her sustainable apparel brand in 2020, and she saved over 3,000 pairs of jeans destined for a landfill in years to come. Her brand Cydsline is dedicated to crafting timeless accessories from recycled materials, and there’s a reason why she decided to focus on working with denim.
“With one million pairs of jeans thrown away each year, I wanted to build a fashion brand that was part of the solution, not the problem. Denim is such an amazing material to upcycle and give a second life,” she explained on Instagram.
Most of Cyd’s designs take the shape of handbags, and they’re made of many different types of denim. She also enjoys making cross-body bags and larger tote bags.
Cyd started Cydsline because she wanted to show that fashion doesn’t have to cost the Earth, and she eventually quit her corporate job to run her eco-friendly brand full-time. It hasn’t been an easy journey, but she has come a long way and even met King Charles while exhibiting her bags at one of the local markets in London.
