Danielle Evans is Taking Food Typography to a Whole New Level

Typography and food art may seem like two forms that don’t have much in common, but that’s only because you haven’t heard of Danielle Evans. Her creations are a true feast for the eyes because she uses different edible ingredients to craft all sorts of different lines.

Evans, aka Marmalade Bleue, was drawn to illustration and design from an early age and attended her first typography class in her first year of college. It was love at first sight, but it took her some time to start mixing food and lettering into one.

She stared this adventure out of resourcefulness because she saw food as a cost-effective material she could easily eat afterward. Evans experimented with many other materials over the years, including shaving creams, fabrics, and plants, but food stayed her favorite because it presents a unique challenge.

There’s no secret formula to Evans’ amazing creations. Sometimes she starts with a line or a phrase that inspires her, before thinking of the objects that fit into the picture. It can take hours for her to get to that final shot, but the process is extremely satisfying for Evans and everyone who gets to enjoy her amazing work.
