Building a home of your dreams requires a lot of time and patience, and in Devan Carter’s case—also plants! She’s the founder of the Instagram page The Brickhouse Jungle, whose boho home wouldn’t be the same without the amazing greenery that gives it a special charm.
Carter’s journey to building her dream home has been pretty long and it involved a lot of moving around. She changed six houses and apartments over the course of seven years before finally finding the peaceful oasis she was searching for in the mountains of North Carolina, where she now lives with her husband and a golden retriever.
Plants were one of the things that Carter carried from home to home, and there’s a reason why they hold such a special place in her heart. They’re a constant reminder of her hard work and growth because she started collecting them while still in college, as a way of treating herself every time she passed an exam.
Carter now owns around 60 plants, mostly common houseplants that you could easily welcome into your home, as well.
