It takes a lot of patience and hard work to decorate cookies to perfection, and no one is doing it like Emily Henegar. Her cookies are mostly inspired by her favorite recording artists, and some of them were floored after seeing them in person.
Henegar is the mastermind behind Cookie in the Kitchen, and her baking adventure started when she was only eleven. She walked around her neighborhood handing out business cards that her sister helped her make, and she’d gotten so many orders that she had to stop.
“At first, I mostly baked regular ‘drop’ cookies” like peanut butter and chocolate chip but eventually fell in love with decorating. As my skills increased, so did demand; word spread through my neighborhood, church, and school, and soon enough, I was receiving orders from people who had found me from the internet,” she wrote on her official website.
Henegar kept making cookies through high school and college and decided to study entrepreneurship and graphic design at Belmont University in Nashville in an attempt to help her cookie business grow. This strategy certainly worked, especially after she found viral fame with her music-themed cookies. She even got the chance to share her work with some of the artists who inspired her, including Chappell Roan, Reneé Rapp, and Em Beihold.
