Erik Parker Art is a Mess – in Perfect Harmony

New York-based Erik Parker creates psychedelic, brightly colored paintings that portray an alien-like world, or a world where nature is an alien force.

Parker’s transcendental subjects and excruciating detail seem chaotic at first glance – until you realize that everything has been created in perfect harmony. At the same time, the intensity of the material makes us question this harmony – does madness lie beneath it all? Is it a contemporary classical music composition, is it jazz improvisations, or is it acid rock?

His multi-layered, saturated paintings seem to be out of this world, where all biology – human, plant, animal – come together to sing the anthem of the universe.

They are an intense visual experience – the overwhelming exposure to color, texture, and content seize the viewer, plant them into that space, make them explore the imagined, fantastical world that stands before them. What are plants, what are body parts, what is architecture, if not just different attributes of the pulsating energy that we call life?
