Käthe, a German artist who goes by the name 10amCoffee on social media, gives old books a new, special look. She believes that books can be a wonderful and unique medium for introducing art and the artist as well.
Käthe mainly uses black, red and white markers for her drawings, and she collects her “canvases” from the free give away boxes.
“I try to tell a story with my pictures and I simply love how the words on the pages merge with my art,” the artist explains. “I only use books I find in free give away boxes that are more or less unwanted. They aren’t chosen by content but by paper quality and size. I use one book for several drawings, similar to a sketchbook, so in a way, those books transform to a new work of art, clean pages merging with the ones I draw on.”
