Hattie Stewart’s Trippy “Doodle Bombs” Will Mesmerize You

Hattie Stewart is a London-based artist and illustrator that became famous for her so-called ‘doodle-bombing’ – creating illustrations over magazine covers in order to transform the pretty, but often monotonous visuals, into bold and playful artworks.

Using only Posca pens and her unleashed imagination, she manages to create stunning, refreshingly edgy illustrations that blend contemporary and conceptual art with fashion and pop trends. The quirky artist graduated from Kingston University in 2010 and has released a book of striking, lucid creations titled “Living with Hattie Stewart”.

With her illustrations, Hattie provides a playful dimension to different kinds of artistic photography, mostly by tweaking the settings in which the people are photographed. Inspired by psychedelic art from the 60s and post-modern classics, she draws, doodles and colors in a tight, minimalistic-yet-complex way that breathes new life into the photos but leaves them open for individual interpretation.

Hattie has so far teamed up with numerous influential brands, including MAC Cosmetics, Nike and Apple, to develop cheeky interpretations of photos of famous music artists and models, including Pharrell, Katy Perry, Kylie Jenner and more. She has also collaborated with several eminent magazines such as Vogue.
