Yaoyao Ma Van As is an accomplished art director, illustrator, and animator who worked on numerous high profile projects including animated sitcom Rick and Morty. A few years ago, she decided to return to drawing as a way to relax after a stressful day at work.
Yaoyao found inspiration in her dog Parker and decided to illustrate moments they share together, from walks through the forest to enjoying a great book, hoping to show the special bond between humans and dogs. This quickly turned into a real creative hobby for the LA-based artist, as her heartwarming illustration quickly became popular on social media among animal lovers.
“Parker is my son, and I love him so, so much” – she told My Modern Met in a recent interview. “I think anyone who loves their dog as much as I do, understands how strong the bond is. Parker and I are really on the same wavelength. He likes to jump on me when I’m happy and consoles me when I’m upset. He really is my emotional support.”
