In past months, Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg became one
of the most notable activists in the world thanks to her efforts to raise
awareness about climate change. She sparked a global movement, addressed heads
of state at the U.N., met with the Pope, and was even named Time magazine’s
Person of the Year for 2019.
It looks, however, that Thunberg isn’t just beloved by media, activists, and common people but also serves as an inspiration for artists around the world. One of those artists is Argentinian muralist Cobre.
Cobre recently finished a massive mural of Greta Thunberg,
located in San Francisco. The artist was commissioned by SF Bay Area non-profit
One Atmosphere, who donated the paint and the wall for the art. Cobre, on the
other hand, decided to do the mural for free in order to contribute to the
cause.
“I want to say this is not a political issue, this is a human issue,” said Cobre. “It doesn’t matter what you think about her, this mural is to amplified her message, climate change is real, if we don’t do anything today, there is no future for our children.”
