Check Out These Haunting Images Drawn By David Alvarez

Although in his latest work, the Mexico-based artist David Alvarez uses only graphite and charcoal to create his art, he still manages to create illustrations in rich texture and contrast. On white and cream-colored paper, he depicts creatures from myth and fantasy which look haunting.

But recently, he began focusing on more realistic things, as well. “There is an attempt to represent how humanity moves, how it thinks, how humans are in collective,” the artist told Colossal. “A jumble of undivided people who move by reflex and without autonomy.”

He adds that the illustrations of little girls, stone pillars, and soldiers are about “social pressure and search for freedom”. Alvarez shares images of his creations on Instagram and has an Etsy store, where his admirers can buy his drawings.
