Japanese Crafter Creates Animal-Inspired Leather Bags

Beware those with entomophobia, because the next article is all about bugs! Well, fake ones. Amanojaku to Hesomagari is a Japanese crafter who creates leather accessories such as pouches, bags, bracelets inspired by hyper-realist creatures. And the insect-shaped ones are our favorites!

Before choosing art as his path, Amanojaku to Hesomagari studied cognitive neuropsychology at graduate school. However, he started learning sewing and found himself naturally drawn to the animal kingdom.

“There are so many unknown animals in the world. And there are many animals that are hated unfairly, too. Through my work, I am trying to show people how charming they are,” the artist told Bored Panda.

Every piece is unique and takes around a month to finish it.

“Small ones can take me up to 3 days, while large works sometimes last 3 weeks,” he added. “I am extremely grateful to the researchers and [nature] photographers who teach me about all the animals I’m interested in.”
