Ever stared lovingly at a freshly baked sourdough loaf, only to have it stare straight back? Linda Ring is a Swedish artist known for transforming sourdough loaves into intricate works of art. Based on the island of Stora Essingen in Stockholm, she creates stunning bread designs featuring unique scoring patterns that give each loaf its own personality.
Impressively multitalented, Ring is also known for her interior design, styling services, and photography.
Ring views bread-making as a therapeutic process, combining simple ingredients—flour, water, salt, and time—to create something both nourishing and visually captivating. Her artistic approach draws on her love of nature, thoughtful design, and talent for seeing the beauty in the everyday.
Ring also cites ancient art, Picasso, Matisse, and her young son as sources of inspiration. In fact, it was her son’s free experimentation when he joined her during a baking session in the family kitchen that first led her to explore bread art and we’re so glad she did.
