Makeup Artist Creates Awesome Pop Culture-Inspired Lip Art

London-based makeup artist Laura Jenkinson has caused a big buzz on the internet in the recent year’s thanks to her pop culture-inspired “lip art.” Jenkinson uses theatrical makeup and lipstick to transform her lips and chin in all sorts of fictional characters, from Homer Simpson and Lion King to Frida Kahlo and Wonder Woman. 

She didn’t stop there, transforming her chin into celebrities like Kylie Jenner and Jay Z as well.

“I find a picture and then just hold it up to the mirror as a guide and draw straight onto my face – it’s easier than you think!” she explains her process to the Daily Mail.

It didn’t take much time for Jenkinson’s work to gain a significant Instagram following, and she now has close to 300K fans on this social media.

“People always say it makes them really happy and it’s nice to bring a bit of joy.” – she said, explaining the rewarding side of the positive feedback she gets.

And with it also being mental health awareness month, I want to show how mental illness is something that can affect all of us, even the greatest minds and icons. Frida Kahlo’s short life was definitely not an easy one and was hit with many struggles; being involved in a terrible accident that left her unable to have children, a turmoltuous marriage and an identity disorder. She experienced suffering, just as we will all have to in life. But she found an outlet through her art, which still has huge influence today.
