Marialaura Fedi’s Faceless Illustrations are Surprisingly Serene

Marialaura Fedi draws faceless women colored in light pastel color palettes. Based in Rome, Italy, where she studied at the Fine Art Academy, the colors of nature and the countryside are the main sources of inspirations for her work, as well as the female body.

“My story is pretty simple,” she told Ballpitmag. “I’m the first daughter of 3 and I started painting because there were too many people in my home.” Using mainly gouache colors, she admits she likes the feeling of brush strokes on paper. But she also works digitally, using an iPad Pro pencil.

“There are two things that I hope to achieve with my art,” she says; “The first one is for those who look at my art, I hope that they could see something that they didn’t know before and find new joy through this new knowledge. The second one is for my self and is just satisfaction.”

“My art and art, in general, is like the base on what my entire existence is funded, something like eating or drinking,” she stresses. “So I should say that I see through art and seeing through art is the only way I know to look at the world.”
