Deadpool & Wolverine is one of the biggest movies of the years, and it’s given us more amazing cameos than we can count. Despite featuring a star-studded A-list cast, the rescue dog Peggy managed to outshine them all as Dogpool and her origin story is one for the books.

Peggy is now one of the most recognizable dogs in Hollywood, but her rags-to-riches story would put some of the biggest superheroes to shame. She went on quite a journey before being cast opposite Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in Marvel’s latest smash hit, but how did she get where she is today?

Peggy is a crossbreed between a Pug and a Chinese Crested Dog known as the Pugese, and she struggled to find a loving home after being brought to the rescue. She arrived there as the runt of an accidental litter, and her luck finally turned after Holly Middleton walked into her life when she was six months old.

She immediately fell in love with Peggy, and her friends later convinced her to sign her up for Britain’s ugliest dog competition, which celebrates the overlooked beauty of quirky pets. Peggy was crowned as the winner in 2023, and her victory helped the team behind Deadpool & Wolverine discover her and help her reach for the stars.
