Robert Steven Connett’s Intricate Art Celebrates the Weird Side of Nature

Nature is the main source of inspiration for many talented artists, and Robert Steven Connett is celebrating it in his own way. His drawings are as intricate as it gets and they offer a window into magical worlds teeming with vibrant life forms, inspired by our own reality while also looking nothing like it.

Connett is a talented artist from California, who embarked on quite a journey before finding his true calling as an artist in his 50s. He spent years working as an insurance broker, left the business after losing his house, and worked several failed jobs over the years, never giving up no matter what hardships life threw his way.

Art was his safe harbor during all these years, and he eventually decided to do it full-time.

“Throughout my life, I’ve found a state of deep peaceful concentration while creating art… My art, especially in the beginning decades, was purgative in nature. Meaning to say, that I expressed my personal feelings both good and bad with very little objectivity or self-censorship,” he explained on his official website.

Nature is Connett’s main source of inspiration, and his paintings often showcase insects, reptiles, birds, and other animals in a fascinating new light. They’re teeming with vibrant colors and whimsical elements, taking us to mythical worlds that exist in the limbo between familiar and extraordinary.
