We usually don’t pay much attention to the fleeing moments of our everyday lives. Sitting at a table and having breakfast or escaping to a quiet place to enjoy some reading doesn’t seem like a major success. However, it is moments like these that actually play a significant part in making us happy and allowing us to be comfortable.
Soeun Lee is a Brooklyn, New York-based artist who appreciates fleeting moments of everyday life so much that she decided to immortalize them in her stained glass art.
Lee’s pieces are full of simple yet strangely captivating scenes. A plate full of food beside a sunny window, an open book on a nightstand waiting for its reader, or a cup of coffee resting on a table makes the viewer believe they are getting a rare peek into someone else’s routine or witnessing their own come up on several pieces of colored glass linked together.
“I play around with things that hint at a personal presence, like an empty chair, a book, or a mug. I want the viewer to be able to sense the lingering traces of a conversation or thought that occurred just moments before,” Lee shared in a recent interview with Colossal.
