Spanish Painter’s Fashion Ads Look Like Pieces of Art

Spanish artist Ignasi Monreal blends the perfect cocktail of contemporary art with classical elements. His multidisciplinary work combines painting with design, creative direction, and even film.

Its little wonder that Monreal quickly rose to fame. Working with brands such as Dior, and Louis Vuitton, and directing music videos for stars like
FKA twigs and Christine & the Queens, has been just the beginning.

His most famous campaign to date has been for luxury giant Gucci, creating art-like ads that look both eerie and captivating.

“I started to paint very early on. I was just following my instinct,” said the painter in an interview for It’s Nice That. “I work in different media and each excites me in a different way. Oil painting is less controllable, and there is a certain charm of the unknown I enjoy very much.” Digital painting, on the other hand “has an amazing aspect of freedom.”.

His first solo show opened this year at La Fresh Gallery in Madrid.
Titled Plats Bruts, it features a series of round paintings of Mediterranean food.
