These Optical Illusions Hide Within Them a Secret Image

Ukrainian artist Oleg Shupliak learned to create images within other images while studying architecture. As he was interested in this technique, he began to paint famous figures from art and pop culture, blurred within landscapes and abstract images. This is how his optical illusions were born.

Each painting reflects the artist’s creativity, concealing within itself a second image that requires a double look to actually see.

Shupliak includes famous and influential people from the past such as Vincent van Gogh, Salvador Dalí, John Lennon and many more. That’s why these paintings seem recognizable even though we see them for the first time.

Sketch – Final work – Inspiration 🔵 Loving Vincent 🔵 I am full of admiration for this animation film @lovingvincentmovie It is also an inspiration for my last painting. I have already made a few portraits of Van Gogh, but after watching this film, I immediately grasped the brush. The film is an animation, completely painted in oil technique in the artist's style. The whole film takes your breath away. It is a Polish-British production. The premiere took place last year. There is also a short video „making off”, which shows from the backstage the phase of creating the film. ▪️Here are some interesting facts: ▪️Each of the 65,000 frames of the film is an oil painting made on canvas, using the same technique as Van Gogh. ▪️There were 125 painters working on the film. Most of the paintings were painted in a studio in Gdansk, Poland. ▪️ Loving Vincent" is the world's first animated full-length film completely made with hand-painted pictures. ▪️The creation of the film took about 6 years – 4 of them took just the development of the appropriate technique. The further production process took only 2 years, during which a film with real actors was made and professional painters were employed, who painted all the frames of the film on canvas in the Van Gogh style. ▪️Some of the pictures created during the production are for sale.▪️ Funds for making the film – a total of 5 million dollars, came mainly from rich fans of Van Gogh's work. Are you as impressed with this film as I am? Write how you liked my interpretation of the portrait. —— @lovingvincent_official @vangoghmuseum #lovingvincent #olegshupliak #olegshuplyak #ukrainianart #ukrainianartist #painting #oilpaint #oilpainting #oiloncanvas #illusion #opticalillusion #opticalart #illustration #artist #art #fineart #artwork #masterpiece #artistoninstagram #instaart #artgallery #conceptart #portrait #surrealism #vangogh #vincentvangogh #animation #lovingvincentmovie #sketch #blue
