This Artist Draws Incredibly Realistics Flowers

Briant Ownes has a knack for capturing life on canvass in a way very few artists out there can. His huge paintings of flowers look so real that it’s hard not to reach out and try to pluck them. And his work process is just as impressive as the end result.

Brian is a Connecticut-based artist with a unique hyper-realistic style. He usually draws flowers – lilies, roses, and more – covered in honey. His drawings are immaculate: each droplet is drawn in incredible detail, each crease and fold of the petals is just right, and the entire drawing loos even more real than real life.

To get to that perfect, photorealistic end result, Ownes spends hundreds of hours studying a single flower. He takes pictures of it from every angle, in different lightings and positions. Then he moves on to sifting through the photos, looking for the perfect one – and only then will he seat in front of his canvas and start painting.

The painting itself can take months to complete – it’s not an easy job, imitating life so closely! Every stroke of the brush has to be just perfect. In the end, he’ll have another huge, gorgeous piece of a hiney-drenched flower to ass to his collection.
