The Scottish illustrator AC Macdonald found viral fame through his webcomic Twistwood Tales, which attracted almost 200,000 Instagram followers. This series of comics introduced us to an enchanting cast of smart, snarky, and sweet characters living their best lives in the forest of Twistwood, where they get to learn wholesome lessons about life and friendship.
Macdonald believes that all ’90s kids out there can relate to this series because they know what it’s like to escape into endless fantasy worlds through everything from cartoons and films on TV to comic books.
“Sometimes there were darker themes, but I felt there was always an unshakable undercurrent of sincerity and optimism. I particularly remember watching The Nightmare Before Christmas, with its brand of horror, and being completely spellbound by it. Twistwood Tales is my effort to create that kind of magic again for others,” he told Bored Panda.
In addition to sharing his comics online, AC Macdonald published one book, which follows Bucket Boy and the rest of the Twistwood gang on an epic adventure.
