25-Year-Old Artist Creates Beautiful Oil Portraits

Kathryn Engberg is a 25-year-old gifted oil painter who was exposed to art from a very young age. According to her, she inherited her talent from her mother and grandmother, which she had studied from a very young age.

Nowadays, Engberg, who has a degree in art, is a principal instructor at an atelier school, and there was even made a short documentary film about her life, directed by filmmaker Bas Berkhout.

“As a painter of people myself, I tried to give Bas total control to capture what felt compelling to him,” she told Colossal. “As someone so self-admittedly interested in being in the audience, it was strange to see myself as the focus. But I trusted Bas to create a wonderful piece.”

The award-winning painter now lives and works in Queens, New York. Scroll down and take a look at some of her creations.
