Amber Vittoria’s Playful Paintings Focus on the Female Body

Amber Vittoria hopes to change the narrative about women and how they are perceived through her colorful paintings. Her artwork focuses on the female body, leveraging physical traits such as body hair, overtly extended limbs, and rounded features.

“My work is inspired by women I’m fortunate enough to know, to pass by in the world, and to read about,” shared the New York City-based artist with Create & Cultivate. “Making work they can resonate with is so important to me.”

Her playful art captured brands like NBC, Gucci, The New York Times, and Instagram. But deciding on taking an artistic route wasn’t an easy task. “When deciding what I wanted to pursue career-wise, I started to take close note of which activities I enjoyed purely for the sake of the process,” she explained. “I learned that in areas like math and science I solely enjoyed excelling, whereas in art I enjoyed the work, even if the product wasn’t as successful.”
