Artist Creates Piñatas of Creatures from Illuminated Manuscripts

Everyone loves piñatas, both kids and adults. This artist makes unique looking piñatas from illuminated manuscripts. Robert Benavidez makes a different kind of art. The talented artist looks to literature and famous paintings to find materials for his beautiful metallic piñatas. One of such is the Hieronymus Bosch Garden of Earthly Delights.

Robert is based in Los Angeles and has created illuminated piñatas with characters from the Luttrell Psalter. This popular medieval manuscript contains lots of mythical creatures and hybrid beasts. The artist explores these creatures further by creating three-dimensional sculptures with traditional motifs.

The artist has been taking part in art exhibitions in his region and hopes to expand his reach to other parts of the world. He posts all his special piñata artworks in his Instagram page as well as his website. See some of his work in the gallery below.
