Artist Uses Textile Waste to Create Beautiful Ocean Inspired Tapestry

Portuguese artist Vanessa Barragão creates gorgeous tapestry using industrial textile waste. Given that she grew up in the city of Albufeira by the ocean, most of her inspiration comes from there. She creates her own versions of underwater plants, coral reefs, and ocean animals.

Vanessa attended the University of Lisbon and opened a studio in Portugal’s capital in 2014. She currently resides in the city of Porto, the textile industry core of the country.

This talented girl simultaneously works as a textile designer and runs her own studio. Check out her tapestry below.
