The deserts made by US-based confectioner Liz Joy are proof that making sweets can be true art. Joy, who is the founder of baked goods company called Inspired to Taste, makes all kinds of treats from cookies and pies to cakes, and is able to create awesome deserts that you almost don’t want to eat them because they are so perfect.

Her creative process begins with getting inspired by the things that surround her, from fashion to children’s’ book illustration, and then coming up with a loose idea of what the desert should look like. After making the basic construction of the treat, she then lets her imagination take control, which results in highly-detailed and impressive sugar art.

I finally found time to make a fashionable (chocolate) gingerbread boy cookie for my nephew. This guy is dressed in head-to-toe edible @ralphlauren (swipe for inspo). My bestie, @tinesha22, hosted a Christmas party and I made some homemade treats to contribute to the festivities. This spiced meringue forest was inspired by @chiefofsugar. The snow is royal icing topped in @bakerybling and the ornament sprinkles are from @wiltoncakes. Back in January I had the idea that handbag macarons would be the absolute cutest things everrrr. And I finally got around to making some (#foreverlate). These tasty little bites are 100% inspired by the @marcjacobs Big Shot collection. I adore all the different color/pattern combos. Which one’s your favorite? _______________________________________________________ These macarons are filled with marshmallow buttercream, chocolate ganache and toffee crumbles. Thank you guys for helping me brainstorm peach pie design ideas! The winning concept came from @mulberry_t and @yanaira_navarro who suggested “A League of their Own.” I’ve always loved the movie and was super excited to pie-ify it. So here’s the finished piece: a Rockford Peaches Pie ⚾️??? _______________________________________________________ Despite my initial excitement, I swear this project was cursed. I tend to be a klutz in general, but I literally destroyed ERRTHING on here at least a couple times. I was so happy when it was finally done. But then it proved a nightmare to photograph ?. Luckily it tastes absolutely delish (yay for redeeming qualities)! _______________________________________________________ Specs: brandied peach and chia seed pudding filling in a spiced cookie crust (organic peaches gifted from @villa.fincadelsol and chia seeds via @mammachia). This pie is grain-free, reduced-sugar, reduced-carb and (except for a couple colors) also vegan ?. This is my first time using @pinkpoppypastriesandpops colors and I’m already beyond obsessed with the coverage. Awhile back you guys voted that my next pie design should be inspired by The Little Mermaid. It was a much more controversial vote than I’d expected! But I finally found time to make my vision a reality, and I really hope you all like it ?. __________________________________________________ This pie is a mix of blueberry, peach and raspberry fillings, with a cinnamon cookie crust. It’s entirely grain-free, reduced-carb, AND reduced-sugar. I sweetened the fillings with a mix of @zevia and @lakantosweetener, and thickened them with @mammachia. So basically jay and I will probably eat the entire thing today while managing to stay completely guilt-free.
