For many years, young Bulgarian illustrator Mira Petrova has been occupied with all the damage humans are causing to planet Earth. The Sofia-based artist dreams about living a zero-waste-life which she often finds hard, so instead, she decided to become more aware of the amount of waste she produces. That is when her comic strip called Waste Aware Animals was born.
The main characters, Mr. and Miss
Fox are based on her and her husband and all the stories are inspired by her
everyday experiences and situations.
“We wanted to give people a fun
and positive way to learn and share about the zero waste philosophy, free of
shame and guilt. And spread the message that we can all be part of the change
or inspire it in others, sometimes even with the smallest actions,” the artist
wrote on Bored Panda.
The illustrations are published in both Bulgarian and English and have attracted almost 1,000 Instagram followers.
