Burnaway cakes become u huge hit in recent years, and we’ve seen them help several food artists find viral fame. Dee Bakes is one of them, and she became a true sensation on TikTok and Instagram, thanks to the cakes inspired by her favorite artists and songs.
Dee Bakes was founded by Adeline Tan, a talented baker from Singapore. Before finding success as a baker, she studied at the NTU Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information and later used her background in these fields to find success on social media, attracting thousands of followers and millions of likes to her TikTok and Instagram.
Tan’s journey as a baker didn’t kick off with burnaway cakes, and she mastered all sorts of different techniques before finally finding her true calling. Her signature cakes are made with edible wafer paper and edible icing sheets in order to create a burning effect. This can lead to a slight burnt sugar taste, which can be avoided by removing the remaining wafer paper before eating the cake.
Most of Dee Bakes’ cakes are rooted in popular culture, and they’re inspired by Tan’s favorite artists and songs. She made multiple cakes in Taylor Swift’s honor, but we’ve also seen her pay homage to Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, and many more.
