Illustrator Sam Eecloo broke up with his girlfriend after a 15-year relationship and suddenly didn’t know what to do with his life. In order to release some pain and anger, he started drawing comics about a guy named John, who was at first “someone who everybody should hate (and was portrayed after the person responsible for the split), but – as time passed and life got better – gradually he turned into a normal character with everyday issues.”
